Paramount has reportedly decided to halt pre-production on the sequel to World War Z, the 2013 smash hit zombie movie starring Brad Pitt.

The movie was supposed to start production in Atlanta, Georgia in the spring or summer with David Fincher attached to direct.

THR is reporting that budgetary issues came to light. It’s unclear if the movie will go back into development or if it’s being shelved permanently.

Mireille Enos and James Badge Dale also starred in the 2013 film.

Exciting news for Brad Pitt fans – his upcoming movie World War Z 2 has been given a release date by Paramount Pictures, according to Variety.

The film is set to be released on June 9, 2017 and it will be going up against another big sequel that day, Fantastic Four 2.

Brad will be producing the movie alongside his Plan B partners Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner.

World War Z was the highest grossing movie of Brad‘s career and it earned $540 million worldwide back in 2013.

World War Z is about a United Nations employee who traverses the world in a race against time to stop the Zombie pandemic that is toppling armies and governments, and threatening to destroy humanity itself. The film exceeded box office expectations and grossed over $536 million worldwide during its theatrical run.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt hit the red carpet at the premiere of his latest film World War Z on Monday evening (July 29) in Tokyo, Japan.

Earlier in the day, the 38-year-old actress looked beautiful while attending a screening of her film In the Land of Blood and Honey.

At the screening, Angelina spoke out against sexual violence.

“This is just a beginning,” Angie said (via the NY Daily News). “Our aim must be to shatter impunity, so that rape can no longer be used as a weapon of war anywhere in the world as it was in Bosnia, and as it is today from Congo to Syria.”

“When I started down the road, making this film, I thought only of telling a story and doing my best to try to give a voice to survivors,” she said. “But today I am here not only as a director, but as a campaigner, and a part of a global effort that is growing every day.”

Brad Pitt continues his world tour for his upcoming flick World War Z at the opening night of the 2013 Moscow International Film Festival held at Pushkinsky Cinema on Thursday (June 20) in Moscow, Russia.

The 49-year-old actor was joined on the red carpet by famous Russian filmmaker and actor Nikita Mikhalkov.

World War Z hits theaters in the US tomorrow, and hits theaters in Russia on June 27! Be sure to check it out.

Adam Lambert hits the “z” shaped red carpet at the premiere of World War Z in the heart of Times Square on Monday (June 17) in New York City.

That same day, big news for the 31-year-old singer was revealed – he is set to reprise his performance his Queen performance one year after he fronted a series of shows with the legendary band.

“We are talking about doing something with Adam, probably for TV,” Queen guitarist Brian May told MTV UK. “He’s an amazing artist and a very nice guy. We keep in touch and have a good friendship.”

James Haven and his girlfriend Ashley Reign hit the red carpet at the premiere of his sister Angelina Jolie‘s fiance Brad Pitt‘s new movie World War Z on Monday (June 17) in New York City’s Times Square.

The 40-year-old actor was also joined at the event by his father Jon Voight, whose new Showtime series Ray Donovan premieres later this month.

Brad walked the red carpet at the event that evening, but the rest of his family was noticeably absent.
