Gerard Butler Is Back in Action for 'London Has Fallen' Trailer!

Gerard Butler is reprising his role as Secret Service head Mike Banning in the upcoming movie London Has Fallen and the trailer for the film was just released!

The action film has a timely premise: after the British Prime Minister passes away, his funeral becomes a target of a terrorist organization to destroy some of the world’s most powerful leaders, devastate the British capital, and unleash a terrifying vision of the future. The only hope of stopping it rests on the shoulders of the President of the United States (Aaron Eckhart) and his formidable Secret Service head (Butler), and an English MI-6 agent (Charlotte Riley) who rightly trusts no one. Morgan Freeman also stars as the Vice President of the United States.

Watch the action-packed trailer below and catch the film in theaters on March 4, 2016.

Hint of sarcasm by any chance ?!

    You are SOOOOOOOOO right!

No, when I am sarcastic I normally indicate it with “(sarcasm)” and this isn’t that. Why would you suggest it even? I wish him well with his upcoming films. Why wouldn’t I?

The only Morgan mentioned in the article is the talented one lol.

You know on a more serious note I truly, with all sincerity, hope Gerry ceases doing action films that have explosions and other brain/body stresses. The brain is an organ like any other and must be treated with respect. Moving forward he truly should try to minimize all types of stresses from his life.

Saying that, hopefully the break has served its purpose and his ‘team’ will ensure he’s not ‘hit’ (pun intended) with too much stress, but instead joy, love, lots of ‘family’ care.

This is a good screen shot of him. Glad they used it.

  • AJ

Finally some movie buzz. Isn’t it exciting. I’ve been starving for this. I know GB likes to play hard to get but he better not do this again. lol!!

  • AbbyRichter

I agree with you. Athleticism aside, the human body can only take so many knocks before it begins shutting down. And with his injuries weighing so heavily on him, on and off camera, I think depending on the commercial success of LHF, we may see him settle into a period of more character focused projects and producing.

Despite my misgivings about his personal life, this is a great time to be a fan :)
I’m excited for the upcoming releases. I can’t wait to hear and read the interviews from this press tour. How does he think Mike has evolved? Has Mike’s relationship with Asher changed, if so, how? So many questions to ask lol.

  • AbbyRichter

I wish we didn’t have to wait so long for the actual release. I think we’re going to see Gerard’s popularity explode again in 2016. There will be a lot of travel, premieres, interviews, articles, paparazzi etc. Next year will be huge for this man.

Was saying at the old thread for a lot of newbies since coming on board the USS Butler from or before OHF that the cycle of movement until it premiere is a lot of fun.

Truly am into brain/body mind/soul recovery for him because this isn’t a test run and his history with Maddie, making OHF, being with her during that time, all that noise, grit, debris, then the stress of baby-sitting, fan nonsense I’m sure he caught wind of, well, moving forward I don’t want that again same like him. Yet his choice of M2 (IMO) wasn’t the wisest because of well, let’s just not give her any energy, and focus on him. That whole thing isn’t as “la-la” as people want to pretend it is, but if they want to, let them. I do wish him peace of mind always, always have, always will. You have to create your own Eden I always say, and that can be in your hotel suite or inside your car or up in the mountains, poolside, or included in your family circle.

  • AbbyRichter

“the cycle of movement until premiere time is a lot of fun.”

    It sure is :)
2016 will be a big year for Gerard. Huge, in fact. Personally, I think he and Morgan will part ways in the first few months of the year (between premieres). Call it gut instinct, but I don’t think he has plans to make room for her on this new journey and when she finds out that the Malibu Telenovela doesn’t suit his needs anymore, because his talent and stardom will be enough…the metaphorical scratches on his back to try and keep him, will only propel him to escape faster.
But this is my own conclusion, drawn from what I’ve seen of them. Of course I could be totally wrong. Only time will tell.

  • Truth

I cannot wait to see LHF, however, the one I am really looking forward to is Gods of Egypt. I’m ready for some great interviews, too.

  • Sonia

As much as I love his gorgeous smile, I really really love his ‘intense’ look. Great photo!

I know. I hope so. I hope it’s a good run for him.

  • AJ

Agreed. Do you think that he will keep up the pace or do you think that he’ll take a break again after HC?

  • AJ

It will be a challenge and interesting to see if they can survive the whole journey through the release of his movies. It’s a whole different ball game in my opinion. Let’s say they don’t survive….. you don’t think he’ll wait it out until after the premieres and interviews are over so he doesn’t have to field questions about it? Of course, only time will tell. We’ll have to stay tuned to find out. lol. I’m curious what do you think happened to his back? It was strange.

  • AJ

It will be interesting to see GB in the role of villan. Me too. I wonder when promotion for GOE will start.

Trailer says it’s out in March though? Premiere so much earlier?

  • Nicole

    Premiere Los Angeles, CA

  • Sonia

Yes but if movie out in cinemas in the US March, this is a whole month before that.

  • Eclipse

You know, if London Has Fallen does well, then, GOE may need Gerry’s good buzz to carry it a bit.

  • AJ

Good point! It could go either way. GOE comes out first right? So if GoE does really well then it could help raise popularity for LHF or as you said vice versa. Let’s just hope all goes well for both. it’s back to back and then I wonder what will happen next. How long we’ll have to wait for the next movie? lol.

  • Sonia

I should have added…only thing that would make this photo better is some facial hair, haha!
I reckon if he has movies out in Feb and March he should be doing shoots/interviews from December (magazines work about two months in advance). So perhaps a short break after filming and Christmas off too but reckon it’ll be busy times from Jan the latest. Looking forward to that.

  • AJ

OMG, i was thinking the same thing. Imagine Mike with some facial hair. Oh my! Yes, I know. Sorry I should have been more specific I meant after all 4 movies come out in theatre. Do you thnk he’ll take another long break like last time or do you think he’ll try to keep it going this time? Hard to say I know but I have a feeling he will take a break again just not as long as this time.

  • Eclipse

I actually think LHF will be better. GOE is going to need some good PR. LHF getting the buzz it’s getting will help.
    LHF hit a million views.

Hey, Aj, the posters are fighting on London Has Fallen Facebook page…What is it about Gerard that does that? Que?

  • AJ

It also says that LHF will be out in theatres October 2, 2015 at the bottom. Typo maybe?

  • Sonia

Yeah I noticed that bit too, obviously they didn’t change it from the earlier date. But you’d think they’d get the date of the premiere right cos that’s what they’re talking about, lol.

  • Sonia

Ah okay, you mean after HC is out, not after it’s filmed, sorry. I should hope he keeps the momentum going and makes another movie or two next year. Cos I think after LHF his next movie is Geostorm which is only out in 2017. Unless HC is out before that, I can’t remember.
He will have voice work to do for HTTYD3, hope he fits in something else too. After the intense promo for GOE and LHF he’ll probably go on a holiday for a bit to recoup, as he usually does. Hope that holiday doesn’t last a year or more, lol.

  • Roxanna

Yes! This is what everyone has been waiting for. Still the promotion on this film so far is spotlighting the action theme and all that goes with it. Cool, no problem. But what about the alleged blockbuster mega film Gods of Egypt that supposedly premiers exactly one week before? How is that all going to work out? A supposed epic and an action thriller part 2 pushing and shoving to be the #1 for the star involved. It will probably get a little tricky.

  • Nicole

“The Gerry Butler Media Room.” The name ‘Gerry’ is the preferred moniker of Butler used by old friends in Hollywood and new friends made in the two films that were shot in the Shreveport-Bossier area, Playing For Keeps and Olympus Has Fallen.

Finally! It looks like anything I was hoping for and then some. With two movies so close together his persona will certainly gain momentum, it’s also Oscar season so maybe he will catch that publicity’s ball too. I wonder where his main promotional work will be focused on, I would say LHF, but I am sure we will see him working on both fronts. GOE has the advantage of a big cast that can take the weight off his shoulders as his “opponent” has a big following too.
I also wonder if GOE will make a dent as Oscar’s material. Wait and see, it’s so exciting indeed!
I would like his career gaining enough momentum so that HC gets some good attention.
It could be his second spring, career wise, if he brings that dramatic skills to the light again like I have seen in the past.
I have always felt as his way of acting in dramas is mesmerizing but a touch too “continental”? I don’t find it over acted because that type of reaction/behaviour is more common in my culture but it can give that vibe to a audience overseas, while I sometimes find the overseas type of drama a bit monotone, or too controlled for a lack of a better word. I wonder if the Americanization of his accent has brought also some American vibe to his dramatic skills, enough to bring that balance to appeal to a wider audience as opposed to those who have a palate that mainly favours “a Mediterranean vibe” in acting.

Shreveport Mayor Ollie Tyler released a statement saying the studio met with the mayor before making the announcement.
“The City of Shreveport desires for Millennium Studios to remain a viable part of our community,” said Mayor Tyler. “Shreveport remains a great place to film movies.”

I think LHF will do better as well. What are they fighting about? I’ll have to go take a look. So true, what is it about him that does that?

  • AJ

Yes, that is what I meant. Fingers crossed, he doesn’t take another extended break like he did this time. A little one okay. He deserves it but if all goes well, I hope he keeps it going. At least 1 or 2 movies a year. lol.

  • AJ

    Yes at the very least.

  • AJ

High five! lol. I’m so looking forward to it. Yes, hopefully, it’s one success after the other. This way each movie can feed off the other. It will be interesting to see if there are any changes in GB.
