Halle Berry Opens Up About Stepping Up To Direct 'Bruised'

Halle Berry steps out for a Q&A discussion of her new film, Bruised, at 92Y on Friday night (November 19) in New York City.

The 55-year-old actress spoke about the new movie, which she stars in and directs.

In a recent interview with Women’s Health, Halle reflected on stepping up to direct the flick.

“When I realized I couldn’t find a director who saw this story like I saw it, I had a moment of reckoning,” she recalled. “I finally realized that at this point in my life, I was ready. I had to take control. I said, ‘Okay, I’m going to work harder than I’ve ever worked.’”

Halle also opened up with the same magazine about training for the role.

“I’m at my best when I have to work hard and when I’m facing challenges,” Halle added, describing as the set as “totally empowering. To be the age I am and push my body to its limits reminded me that age is just a number. We can control how we define ourselves, and I’ve never been healthier and felt stronger. This movie helped me realize that.”
