'New Yorker' Responds to Backlash Over Jeremy Strong Profile

The New Yorker is responding to all of the backlash surrounding their recent profile on Jeremy Strong.

The profile – titled On “Succession,” Jeremy Strong Doesn’t Get the Joke – highlighted the 42-year-old actor‘s method acting in many of his roles, including HBO’s Succession, and has sparked much debate online.

It also includes some of his co-stars weighing in with some concern about how much he puts into his method acting.

After the profile went viral, several actors and directors that have worked with Jeremy took to social media to defend his approach to his roles.

In her statement, Jessica Chastain called Jeremy “a lovely person” who’s “passionate about his work.”

Following the backlash, the New Yorker released a statement in regards to the profile.

“This is a nuanced, multi-sided portrait of an extremely dedicated actor,” a spokesperson for the New Yorker shared with Deadline. ” It has inspired a range of reactions from people, including many who say that they are even more impressed by Jeremy Strong’s artistry after having read the article.”

As of right now, Jeremy Strong has not yet publicly addressed the profile.
