FBI Reveals Findings in 'Rust' Shooting Investigation

An FBI forensic report that was part of the investigation into the shooting on the set of Rust has been released.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has concluded that the gun that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins “could not be made to fire without a pull of the trigger.”

Actor Alec Baldwin was holding the gun when it went off and struck both Halyna and the film’s director Joel Souza.

The report stated that the gun “could not be made to fire without a pull of the trigger” with the hammer in the quarter- and half-cock position. The gun “could not be made to fire without a pull of the trigger while the working internal components were intact and functional” with the hammer fully cocked, according to ABC News.

Alec has claimed that he didn’t pull the gun’s trigger. He also said he believed he was holding a “cold gun,” which is one that does not have live ammunition.

“The trigger wasn’t pulled,” he said in an interview last December. “I didn’t pull the trigger.”

Footage from the set of the film was released back in April.
