Maxim Baldry Reveals How His Isildur Will Be More Relatable in ‘Rings of Power’
While speaking with CinemaBlend, Maxim revealed that playing the role is “a privilege and an honor”, but he “definitely felt the weight of expectation of people’s interpretation of this character.”
“We’re kind of at the beginning of his journey almost, and I was grateful to be able to explore him finding himself and not wanting to pursue his father’s dream of becoming a sea captain and kind of wanting to do something else and take it in a different direction,” he continued. “In turn, it makes him a lot more relatable and maybe you can understand him down the line.”
He then told TV Line that “there’s an emptiness in him that he’s trying to fill.”
Maxim added that “I think he’s rebelling from societal expectations and trying to carve his own destiny. Sometimes, it’s not the right thing to do, and it ends up pissing a lot of people off.”
