Former Trump Aide Steve Bannon Sentencing - Find Out How Long He's Going to Jail

Steve Bannon is heading to prison.

The 68-year-old former White House chief strategist in the Donald Trump administration was sentenced to four months in prison on Friday (October 21) for contempt of Congress for putting off subpoenas to testify regarding the Capitol riot.

Prosecutors asked Judge Carl J. Nichols to put him in prison for six months for his “sustained, bad-faith contempt of Congress” which “exacerbated” the assault on the Capitol.

“The Defendant has expressed no remorse for his conduct and attacked others at every turn,” they wrote in a memo earlier in the week, via The Daily Beast.

Lawyers for Bannon asked the judge to sentence him to probation only, and to allow him to remain free on bond pending an appeal.

The judge agreed with prosecutors, saying that Bannon had expressed “no remorse” and was yet to show “any intention to comply with the subpoena.”

“This is an illegitimate regime. Their judgment day is on the 8th of November,” Bannon said outside of the courtroom, referring to the midterm elections, before adding an apparent reference to the Chinese Communist Party: “Remember, take down the CCP.”
