Jay Leno Speaks Out About His Burn Accident For The First Time
Jay Leno is speaking out for the first time since his burn accident.
In case you didn’t see, the 72-year-old former talk show host was hospitalized on November 13 and sustained burns on his face after a fire in his garage. He spent 10 days in the burn center and underwent two surgeries in that time.
In a new column for the Wall Street Journal, Jay opened up about the accident.

“But really, it was an accident, that’s all,” he wrote in his piece. “Anybody who works with their hands on a regular basis is going to have an accident at some point. If you play football, you get a concussion or a broken leg. Anything you do, there’s a risk factor.”
Jay added in a face joke, saying that “eight days later, I had a brand new face, and it’s better than what was there before.”
He concluded, “There’s nothing worse than whiny celebrities. If you joke about it, people laugh along with you.”
Following the accident, Jay held his first stand up show.
