Broncos Running Back Ronnie Hillman Passes Away at 31

Just hours after news broke that former Super Bowl winning running back Ronnie Hillman had entered hospice while battling a rare form of cancer, his family has now announced that he has tragically passed at the young age of 31.

“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved son, brother & father, Ronnie K Hillman Jr.,” the 31-year-old Denver Broncos running back’s family told TMZ. “Ronnie quietly and peacefully transitioned today in the company of his family and close friends.”

Ronnie had been diagnosed with a renal medullary carcinoma, a “rare but highly aggressive neoplasm form of cancer that primarily affects young African Americans with sickle cell trait,” TMZ reports.

Earlier this week, his family released a statement, confirming, “As a family, we hope beyond hope, and we have faith that can move mountains. We also understand that God’s will is not always ours; therefore, we as a family subject ourselves to the will of our Almighty God. We need your prayers, but we also need your understanding and respect for Ronnie and our family’s privacy at this time.”

You may remember Ronnie as he won a Super Bowl in 2015 with the Denver Broncos and played alongside Peyton Manning that year. He rushed for 863 yards and 7 touchdowns during the winning season.

Our thoughts are with Ronnie‘s friends, family, and loved ones during this difficult time. RIP.
