Hugh Jackman Reveals How Long He'll Train to Get in Shape for 'Deadpool 3'

Hugh Jackman won’t transform into Wolverine again overnight.

The 54-year-old Greatest Showman actor is set to reprise his role as the adamantium-laced member of the X-Men in Ryan Reynold‘s Deadpool 3. It’ll be his first time playing the hero, otherwise known as Logan, since 2017.

He made it clear that it will take some work to get ready to play the character again. In fact, he said that he was planning to clear off his schedule for a months-long, physically demanding process.

While on Talking to Chris Wallace, Hugh confirmed that he’d spend six months after he finished The Music Man getting ready to return to Wolverine.

He’ll be so busy that he has no intention of taking on other projects during that time. “And I’m not doing any other work. I’m going to be with my family and train. That’s going to be my job for six months,” he said, according to Complex.

Hugh continued, noting that his Broadway role ensured that he stay active, which will help.

“And I’m really fit right now. There’s one thing that about eight shows a week being on Broadway singing and dancing is I’m fit. So I’m healthy. I have a good place to start,” he said.

However, “I’ve learned you can’t rush it. I’ve learned that it takes time.”

After announcing his involvement in Deadpool 3, Hugh and Ryan joked about how he’d get back into character. We’ve also learned more about how Wolverine and Deadpool will likely interact in the movie.
