Drew Barrymore Responds to Criticism After Resuming Her Talk Show During the Writer's Strike

Drew Barrymore is responding to critics after choosing to resume her daytime talk show while the writer’s strike is ongoing.

The 48-year-old actress posted a lengthy Instagram video on Friday (September 15) explaining the reasoning behind her decision to continue The Drew Barrymore Show now.

“I believe there’s nothing I can do or say in this moment to make it OK,” she said. “I wanted to own a decision, so that it wasn’t a PR-protected situation, and I would just take full responsibility for my actions.”

Drew continued, “I know there is just nothing I can do that will make this OK to those that it is not OK with. I fully accept that. I fully understand that. There are so many reasons why this is so complex, and I just want everyone to know my interns have never been in a place to upset or hurt anymore. It’s not who I am.”

When she announced that her show would return, the TV host noted in her statement, “I am also making the choice to come back for the first time in this strike for our show, that may have my name on it but this is bigger than just me. I own this choice.”

Although Drew is not technically in violation of current SAG-AFTRA strike rules, her decision has not been received well. Protestors gathered on the first day of the show’s production, earlier in the week.

In other news for Drew, her alleged stalker was recently arrested when he reportedly entered a dressing room at a New York Fashion Week show to pursue another major star.
