Why ‘9-1-1’ Won’t Air a New Episode Tonight (April 24) & When It Will Be Back After That Shocking Death

9-1-1 left fans with a massive shock last week when they killed off a main character during the episode.

Now, fans will have to continue waiting to see the aftermath of that event. Why? 9-1-1 is not airing a new episode tonight (April 24) on ABC.

This evening, the National Football League (aka, the NFL) is hosting day 1 of their 2025 Draft, where each of the 32 football teams will make their first round selection.

The draft is a three-night event, and night one usually spans hours as teams welcome a new star to their roster.

As a result, ABC will be showing the draft all evening, skipping their regular Thursday programming.

The next new episode of 9-1-1 – titled “The Last Alarm” – will debut on ABC on Thursday (May 1) at its regularly scheduled time.
