These Celebs All Freaked Out Meeting Jerry from 'Cheer' at the Oscars - Watch Here!

A ton of celebrities at the 2020 Oscars got a fun surprise on the red carpet, all thanks to breakout Cheer star Jerry Harris!

Jerry, one of the fan-favorite cheerleaders from the hit Netflix docuseries, covered the press line for The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Sunday night (February 9) and met the likes of Marriage Story‘s Laura Dern, Little Women‘s Greta Gerwig, Richard Jewell‘s Kathy Bates, Hamilton‘s Lin-Manuel Miranda, “Bad Guy” hit-maker Billie Eilish, and Frozen‘s Idina Menzel, all of whom recognized him the moment they laid eyes on him.

“Jerry! This is what I wanna say to you,” Oscar winner of the night Laura Dern said. “You’ve got this! You can do this, Jerry! My daughter was giving me some mat talk as I was arriving in the car, and we love you and we love your big, beautiful heart.”

Little Women director Greta Gerwig totally freaked out and confessed she watched Cheer every night when she’s pumping breast milk. “I feel like I manifested you somehow,” she told Jerry Harris, who had to be told what she meant by “pumping.”

Plus, Ellen gifts Jerry a scrapbook highlighting moments from the biggest night in Hollywood and surprises him with $10,000 to put toward his student loans, courtesy of Shutterfly – Watch it all go down here!

Academy Reveals Why Cameron Boyce & Luke Perry Were Left Out of In Memoriam at Oscars 2020

The Academy is responding to backlash over the omission of Cameron Boyce and Luke Perry from the In Memoriam segment at the 2020 Oscars.

“The Academy receives hundreds of requests to include loved ones and industry colleagues in the Oscars In Memoriam segment,” The Academy said in a statement to E! News. “An executive committee representing every branch considers the list and makes selections for the telecast based on limited available time. All the submissions are included on Oscar.com and will remain on the site throughout the year. Luke Perry and Cameron Boyce are remembered in the Oscar.com gallery.”

Visual Effects Society Slams the Oscars for That 'Cats' Moment

James Corden and Rebel Wilson appeared on stage in costume as their Cats characters and skewered their movie while presenting at the 2020 Oscars.

The co-stars presented the award for Best Visual Effects and joked, “As cast members of the motion picture Cats, nobody more than us understands the importance of good visual effects.”

As you’re probably aware, the movie Cats was critically panned and a lot of the criticism had to do with the visual effects.

Now, the Visual Effects Society is slamming the Oscars for that whole bit.

“Last night, in presenting the Academy Award for Outstanding Visual Effects, the producers chose to make visual effects the punchline, and suggested that bad VFX were to blame for the poor performance of the movie Cats. The best visual effects in the world will not compensate for a story told badly,” the organization said in a statement.

“On a night that is all about honoring the work of talented artists, it is immensely disappointing that The Academy made visual effects the butt of a joke. It demeaned the global community of expert VFX practitioners doing outstanding, challenging and visually stunning work to achieve the filmmakers’ vision,” the statement continued.

“Our artists, technicians and innovators deserve respect for their remarkable contributions to filmed entertainment, and should not be presented as the all-too-convenient scapegoat in service for a laugh,” the society added. “Moving forward, we hope that The Academy will properly honor the craft of visual effects – and all of the crafts, including cinematography and film editing – because we all deserve it.”

Here's Why Bong Joon-ho Only Gets to Keep 3 Out of 4 Oscars for 'Parasite' Wins

The movie Parasite won four awards at the 2020 Oscars and while it seems filmmaker Bong Joon-ho would be eligible to receive all of them, he only gets to take home three trophies.

The South Korean film won the awards for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, and Best International Feature Film – and Bong was on stage to accept all four of them.

Bong is the producer, director, and co-writer of the movie, so he gets to take home the awards for Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Original Screenplay. While you’d think that the producers and director would take home the Best International Feature Film award, this award is actually not given to any specific person.

The Oscars’ Best International Feature Film award is considered to be an award for the country where the film is from. For this category, each country is allowed to submit one film that it believes to be the best film of the year from that country. The Oscar statue for this award is often displayed in museums in the country that wins.

Winning three Oscars is pretty cool though!

Jane Fonda Recycles Elie Saab Dress She Wore To Cannes 2014 For Oscars 2020

You might not have realized this but Jane Fonda recycled a dress for the 2020 Academy Awards last night.

The 82-year-old actress and activist stunned in an Elie Saab gown at the event where she presented the Oscar for Best Picture and she actually wore the same dress to the Cannes Film Festival in 2014.

Late last year, Jane revealed that she would give up shopping and refuse to buy any new clothes as a small part of the fight against climate change.

While protesting on Capitol Hill, she told the crowd, “So when I talk to people about, ‘We don’t really need to keep shopping. We shouldn’t look to shopping for our identity. We don’t need more stuff,’ then I have to walk the walk too. So I’m not buying any more clothes.”

Jane has only made one clothing purchase since then, her famous red coat that she had in hand on the Oscar stage.

She’s worn the red coat many times to her Fire Drill Friday climate protests.

See 10+ pictures of Jane Fonda wearing the dress in 2014 and in 2020 below!

Mindy Kaling's Oscar Necklace Is Identical To The One in 'Ocean's 8' & Came With Its' Own Security Guard

Mindy Kaling was wearing some serious jewels on her neck at the 2020 Academy Awards last night.

The 40-year-old star revealed to Variety on the red carpet that her Chopard necklace was actually identical to the one that was stolen in Ocean’s 8.

“I felt happy to wear it,” Mindy shared with the reporter and even admitted that it came with its’ own security guard.

Mindy guessed that if the necklace had its’ own security that it had to cost “north of $100,000″ but she didn’t want to know how much is really cost because she “thought it would scare [her] to know.”

If you don’t know, Mindy played Amita in the heist movie, a jeweler who creates the decoy necklace the team of thieves swaps out with the genuine article during the Met Gala.

If you missed it, you can see Mindy‘s second look of the night she wore to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party.
