Zoe Saldana is continuing to mourn the death of her friend and Star Trek co-star, Anton Yelchin.

The 36-year-old actress took to her Instagram account on Thursday morning (June 23) to pay tribute to the late actor again.

“Your sudden and unexpected departure has left us all broken hearted. I woke up today feeling absolute gratitude that I had you as a friend and colleague. Your life has been cut short, but I will always tell everyone about you. You were kind, present, old souled, curious, brilliant, funny, humble, honest, and undeniably talent. Good bye Anton, it was an honor to have crossed paths with you,” Zoe captioned a photo of the late star.

Zoe reacted to the shocking and untimely death earlier in the week as well.

Anton Yelchin died quickly after he was pinned against his security gate by his Jeep, sources close to the investigation told TMZ.

The 27-year-old actor was pinned against the gate and the Jeep reportedly crushed his lungs. It is believed that Anton passed away within one minute of the tragic accident.

The police are currently going through the security camera footage at Anton‘s home to see if the accident was captured on film.

The Jeep that Anton was driving was recalled recently as there was a problem with the e-shift where drivers would think they had put the car in park, though it was actually in neutral. You can watch a demonstration of the gear shifting process in the below video.

Fiat Chrysler Automotive, the parent company of Jeep, has released a statement on the death of the 27-year-old Star Trek actor.

“FCA US extends its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Mr. Yelchin,” the company told TheWrap. “The company will be conducting a thorough investigation of this tragic incident. It is premature to speculate on its cause at this time.”

It was revealed that Anton‘s Jeep model was recalled last year for problems with the transmission and he never got the car fixed.

It was determined that there was a gear shifting problem in the car as it may not “adequately warn the driver when driver’s door is opened and the vehicle is not in PARK, allowing them to exit the vehicle while the vehicle is still in gear.”

“Drivers thinking that their vehicle’s transmission is in the PARK position may be struck by the vehicle and injured if they attempt to get out of the vehicle while the engine is running and the parking brake is not engaged,” according to a report from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

The Los Angeles County coroner’s office came to the conclusion that the death was an accident as Anton appeared to not have properly put his car in park before it rolled down his steep driveway and pinned him against the gate.

Anton was found dead in the early hours of Sunday morning (June 19) by friends after he didn’t show up for a planned rehearsal on Saturday night.
