'Westworld' Cast Will Still Be Paid for Season 5 Despite Cancellation, Salaries Revealed

It was announced today that HBO has canceled Westworld after four seasons, but there’s some good news for the cast.

The main cast will still be paid for the planned fifth season, even though it’s no longer happening.

Deadline reports that the cast had “pay-or-play deals” for the fifth season and their options came up last year, before season four had aired. HBO decided to exercise the options for the cast and now the actors are entitled to paydays for season five. It’s possible that the cast had renegotiated their deals to earn even bigger salaries for the fifth season!

'Westworld' Canceled by HBO in Shocking Decision After Four Seasons - Read the Statements

The hit HBO series Westworld has been canceled after four seasons.

The shocking decision was announced on Friday afternoon (November 4), nearly three months after the fourth season finished airing.

Season one of Westworld aired in 2016 and there were nearly two years in between each season due to the scale of the series. A fifth season was reportedly planned by series creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, but it won’t be happening.

Last month they said, “We always planned for a fifth and final season. We are still in conversations with the network. We very much hope to make them.”

Olivia Colman & Dakota Johnson's 'Lost Daughter' Finally Gets Debut Trailer - Watch Now!

It’s here – the trailer for The Lost Daughter!

Here’s a synopsis of the film: Alone on a seaside vacation, Leda (Olivia Colman) becomes consumed with a young mother and daughter as she watches them on the beach. Unnerved by their compelling relationship, (and their raucous and menacing extended family), Leda is overwhelmed by her own memories of the terror, confusion and intensity of early motherhood. An impulsive act shocks Leda into the strange and ominous world of her own mind, where she is forced to face the unconventional choices she made as a young mother and their consequences. Maggie Gyllenhaal makes her directorial debut from a script she adapted from the novel by Elena Ferrante. The movie also stars Dakota Johnson, Jessie Buckley, Ed Harris, Peter Sarsgaard, Paul Mescal and Dagmara Dominczyk.

The film is in select theaters December 17 and on Netflix December 31.
