The Modern Family actor popped the question back in August 2021 and during an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show Tuesday (February 22), he revealed that he had enlisted the help of her twin sons to make it extra special.

The actor, who starred with Sofia Vergara on Modern Family, was brought into the show within a matter of hours.
Fellow judge and executive producer Simon Cowellexplained that “we didn’t have days to think about it. We had hours to think about it.”
He added, “Heidi obviously got ill and, for obvious reasons, she had to stay at home. Someone said, ‘Well, why don’t we hire Eric?’ And we said it’s a good idea because Sofia and Eric worked together and they have chemistry. He was a real trooper. He stepped in at the last moment.”
The 44-year-old actor and his Modern Family co-star Eric Stonestreet appeared on Wednesday’s (April 1) home-edition of Jimmy Kimmel Live! and got into the spirit of April Fool’s Day.
In honor of Modern Family coming to an end next week, host Jimmy shared a prank that Eric pulled on Jesse on the set of the hit ABC series before we were all in isolation due to the world health crisis.
“I have done a fair amount of pranks to Jesse, some small, some very small, some medium, some bigger pranks along the 11 years we’ve been associated,” Eric admitted to Kimmel.
In the clip, Jesse and Jimmy joined forces to get back at Eric, except there was one problem: Ferguson was being set up to be the victim once again. Ferguson planned to hook a forklift to Stonestreet‘s trailer and move it, then to get him with confetti. But Jimmy was involved, and the prank was on Ferguson the whole time. Stonestreet orchestrated for Ferguson to be doing his prank in a disguised earthquake simulator.

“Right now Harvesters is considered an essential service and they are working to get as much food to people as they can through mobile distributions (which means they put food directly into cars),” Eric captioned the Instagram post below.
“They are buying all the food they can right now to meet that need,” he added. “Normally they rely heavily on donated food, but they need the community’s support to make sure they have the resources to help families and children in need. @harvesters.”
