The trailer for the new musical movie Flora and Son, from Once and Sing Street director John Carney, has arrived.

Eve Hewson, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Jack Reynor, and newcomer Orén Kinlan star in the upcoming film, which will debut in select theaters on September 22 and on Apple TV+ one week later on September 29.

In Flora And Son, single mom Flora (Hewson) is at a loss about what to do with her rebellious teenage son, Max (Kinlan). Encouraged by the police to find Max a hobby, Flora tries to occupy him with a beat-up acoustic guitar. With the help of a washed-up LA musician (Gordon-Levitt), Flora and Max discover the transformative power of music.

The trailer features the original song “High Life” performed by Eve and Oren.

Begin Again director John Carney has issued an apology for his statements about Keira Knightley, insulting her acting talents.

“From a director who feels like a complete idiot,” John began in his lengthy statement, posted to his Twitter account.

“In trying to pick holes in my own work, I ended up blaming someone else. That’s not only bad directing, that’s shoddy behavior,” he wrote. Read the whole statement below…

Keira Knightley is receiving support from two former directors after her Begin Again director John Carney criticized her acting and behavior on set.

The director said that “Keira has an entourage that follow her everywhere so it’s very hard to get any real work done. And as much as I tried to make it work I think that she didn’t quite come out as a guitar-playing singer-songwriter. I learned that I’ll never make a film with supermodels again.”

Mark Romanek, the director of 2010′s Never Let Me Go, and Lorene Scafaria, the writer/director of 2012′s Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, both tweeted in support of Keira.

“My experience with #keiraknightley was utterly spectacular on every level. I have no clue what this guy is talking about. #arrogantshithead,” Mark tweeted.

“I agree with Mark. Keira was a joy to work w/. Present & easy & really, really good at her job. Just lovely,” Lorene said.

Director John Carney has some rather interesting things to say about Keira Knightley.

The duo worked together when the 31-year-old actress starred in his 2013 film Begin Again.

“I didn’t enjoy that experience of paparazzi and fabulous openings. The movie star world is not something that ever appealed to me,” John told The Independent. “I like working with actors and I wanted to come back to what I knew and enjoy film-making again – not that I didn’t enjoy Begin Again but Keira has an entourage that follow her everywhere so it’s very hard to get any real work done.”

“And as much as I tried to make it work I think that she didn’t quite come out as a guitar-playing singer-songwriter,” he continued. “I learned that I’ll never make a film with supermodels again.”

He added, “Keira‘s thing is to hide who you are and I don’t think you can be an actor and do that. I like to work with curious, proper film actors as opposed to movie stars. I don’t want to rubbish Keira, but you know it’s hard being a film actor and it requires a certain level of honesty and self-analysis that I don’t think she’s ready for yet and I certainly don’t think she was ready for on that film.”

Meanwhile, Keira has been nominated for two Academy Awards over the years, in addition to her many other accolades.
