Ed Sheeran is opening up about testing positive for COVID-19, and revealed it wasn’t just him who was affected by the virus, but his daughter, Lyra, too.

During his recent interview with The Howard Stern Show on SiriusXM, the 30-year-old singer – who was diagnosed with breakthrough COVID – shared the news that 15-month old Lyra also tested positive.

“My wife [Cherry Seaborn] was away, so, I was there with my daughter … She had it, too, so it was kind of heavy,” Ed shared, admitted that there were three days that were “really bad.”

“I was really, really, really rundown and then just one day I caught it.”

He added, “It’s quite an odd thing getting [COVID-19] and then having to announce it to the world … I’m still sort of being treated [like I have it]. I didn’t really want to announce it to everyone, but I had to cancel three big things in England and I didn’t want to be rude.”

Ed also said that as soon as he got a cold, he started to get tested “every single day” out of precaution.

Now, just days away from his SNL appearance, Ed also cleared up a rumor about the show scrambling for a replacement act to take over.

“I don’t know why there was a huge uproar about that. Everyone was saying they were scrambling to find a replacement, [but] I was always playing that,” he said.

In a separate interview, Ed opened up about the backlash to his cameo on Game of Thrones.

The 30-year-old “Bad Habits” performer welcomed his first child with wife Cherry, Lyra Antarctica, at the end of August 2020.

During an appearance on Lorraine on Thursday (July 1), Ed discussed becoming a father and how he and Cherry decided on their daughter’s unique name.

Ed Sheeran is opening up about life with his daughter, Lyra, in a rare interview.

The 30-year-old singer-songwriter and wife Cherry Seaborn welcomed the baby girl at the end of August of 2020.

Speaking ahead of his appearance at Radio 1′s Big Weekend, he told BBC Radio 1 that Lyra isn’t the biggest fan of his music yet.

“I definitely spent hours and hours in front of the mirror pretending to be essentially what I am now. Practice makes perfect,” he says. “Now I’ll sing [my new songs] to my daughter, who’s not my biggest fan. She just cries!”

Ed added that there are some songs she does like, and they include “‘Shape of You.’ The marimba sound is good, but she doesn’t like anything loud or anything belt-y.”

Ed Sheeran has announced some exciting news – he and his wife Cherry Seaborn have welcomed a baby daughter named Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran!

The 29-year-old singer announced the news on his Instagram account, writing, “Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you… Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter – Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.”

Ed added, “We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here. We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x”

Ed and Cherry never officially announced their pregnancy but rumors spread earlier in August that they might be expecting their first child. We have not heard too much from Ed lately as he’s been on an extended break.
