Netflix's 'Boys in the Band' Trailer Just Debuted - Watch Here!

The first trailer for The Boys in the Band is here!

Ryan Murphy has produced the movie version of the Broadway play, for which he won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play last year.

Here’s a synopsis: In 1968 New York City – when being gay was still considered to be best kept behind closed doors – a group of friends gather for a raucous birthday party hosted by Michael (Jim Parsons), a screenwriter who spends and drinks too much, in honor of the sharp-dressed and sharp-tongued Harold (Zachary Quinto). Other partygoers include Donald (Matt Bomer), Michael’s former flame, now mired in self-analysis; Larry (Andrew Rannells), a randy commercial artist living with Hank (Tuc Watkins), a school teacher who has just left his wife; Bernard (Michael Benjamin Washington), a librarian tiptoeing around fraught codes of friendship alongside Emory (Robin de Jesús), a decorator who never holds back; and a guileless hustler (Charlie Carver), hired to be Harold’s gift for the night. What begins as an evening of drinks and laughs gets upended when Alan (Brian Hutchison), Michael’s straight-laced college roommate, shows up unexpectedly and each man is challenged to confront long-buried truths that threaten the foundation of the group’s tight bond.

Look out for the film on Netflix on September 30, 2020.

Matt Bomer Reveals He Was Almost On This Iconic Disney Children's Show

Matt Bomer is opening up about the time he was almost cast on…The Mickey Mouse Club!

Speaking with Variety, the 42-year-old actor recalled his audition process for the popular children’s show.

“They lined you up and you had to sing a song. I had no song prepared, so I just sang the same song that the girl in front of me sang. It was ‘Eternal Flame’ by the Bangles,” Matt shared. “Then I basically made up this monologue on the spot for the comedic acting part or whatever, and I kept getting called back and called back.”

He went on, saying that he “didn’t have a headshot, I had nothing. They called me and they were like, ‘We think we’re going to bring you down to Orlando for a screen test.’”

Matt added that he did get a call to go in for the final round of casting, but he ended up not going.

“I was so excited, I had time to prepare, I got a real monologue together, I prepared a song,” Matt said. “I think I got called at the last minute and they ended up not bringing me down. They were probably like, ‘Who is this kid? No one’s going to come with him. He’d be on his own.’”

The Mickey Mouse Club launched a lot of careers of well known actors, including Ryan Gosling and Keri Russell and also launched music careers for Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

If you missed it, Matt also revealed that he was almost cast in this movie, which made headlines in 2017.

Matt Bomer Discussed Playing Armie Hammer's Role in 'Call Me By Your Name'

Matt Bomer had once discussed playing one of the leading roles in the 2017 movie Call Me By Your Name!

“I had met with [Call Me By Your Name executive producer Derek Simonds] years ago when he was involved in ‘Call Me by Your Name,’ and we’d hit it off creatively and had a great conversation,” Matt told Variety. Matt added that Derek actually worked on an adaptation of the source material years before Luca Guadagnino‘s 2017 movie.

Matt added they had discussed him playing the role of Oliver. “I obviously loved the material; I loved talking with him about it. I thought it had real potential. Then he went on to do other things and I went on to do other things.”

The role of Oliver eventually went to Armie Hammer, who played opposite Timothee Chalamet in the movie.

There was actually Call Me By Your Name news just a few months ago!

Matt Bomer Would Love To Return To The 'American Horror Story' Franchise In This Way

Matt Bomer has an idea of how he’d like to return to the American Horror Story franchise, should it happen.

“I love Ryan Murphy. He has been the architect of my career in many ways. When he calls, I’m there [laughs],” the -year-old actor, who has starred in both Freak Show and Hotel installments, shared in a new interview. “He’ll know better than anybody if there’s a role that’s right for me on American Horror Story or not.”

But if an on-screen part isn’t in the cards, Matt would love to get behind the camera.

“What I would love to do is to direct one of the American Horror Story one-offs that they’re talking about doing,” he added.

“That would be really, really fun,” Matt says. “You’d get to work with that cast, and tell that story as a director. I’m such a fan of the show, and of that genre, so I think it would be really fun to do.”

If you missed it, new news about the next installments of AHS were just revealed.
