Tyler Perry’s Netflix series Beauty in Black has found its cast!

The series will have 16 hour-long episodes in its first season, based on two women leading very different lives: While Kimmie is struggling to make a living after her mother kicked her out, Mallory is running a successful business, and the two find themselves entangled in each other’s lives, via TVLine.

Tyler will write, direct and produce Beauty in Black, which will be the first TV series to come out of his creative partnership with Netflix, a multi-year deal that began in October 2023. A premiere date has not yet been set, but we know who’s going to star in the show.

Zoe Saldana and Reese Witherspoon have teamed up for a new limited series on Netflix!

The ladies stepped out together for the premiere of their new show From Scratch on Monday (October 17) at the Netflix Tudum Theater in Los Angeles.

Zoe stars in the series and she executive produced the show alongside Reese. They were joined at the premiere by creators Attica Locke and Tembi Locke, as well as Zoe‘s husband Marco Perego.

Inspired by Tembi‘s memoir, From Scratch is a cross-cultural love story that follows Amahle “Amy” Wheeler (Saldana) an American student studying abroad in Italy, as she meets and falls in love with Lino, a Sicilian chef. Their whirlwind romance faces many unforeseen challenges, including their very different cultural backgrounds; true to real life, it is also infused with lightheartedness and moments of humor that exist alongside the more serious ones. But when Lino is faced with unimaginable health challenges and the couple’s future is threatened, the two families come together to create an extended family unlike any they could have imagined, proving that love crosses all borders.

All eight episodes will premiere on Netflix on October 21. Watch the trailer here!
