'Stranger Things' Live-Action Prequel 'Other Worlds' Confirmed at Netflix; Set in 1955 Nevada

Netflix has confirmed a live-action Stranger Things prequel called Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure. The series comes from the Duffer Brothers and Kate Trefry, with a teaser revealing a setting of 1955 in Marion, Nevada. That places the new series before both Stranger Things and the stage play Stranger Things: The First Shadow. The Duffer Brothers say the project has been a dream for years, promising a new setting, new heroes and new villains. Kate Trefry is the co-creator and showrunner, with Joe Wright directing. Trefry has worked with the Duffer Brothers since Season 2 and wrote Stranger Things: The First Shadow. She says the brothers gave her her first paying Hollywood job. Trefry describes returning to the original series’ horror, wonder and mystery while telling a wholly new story, with support from Netflix and 21Laps. No cast has been set, and there is no release date for the prequel at this time.
