Jacob Elordi Addresses ‘Prudish’ Response to ‘Saltburn’ Bathtub Scene

Nearly two years after the release of Saltburn, Jacob Elordi is addressing one of the most talked about moments from the movie.

In a new interview, the 28-year-old actor admitted that he wasn’t too happy about how some viewers perceived that infamous bathtub scene.

In Saltburn, Jacob‘s character Felix masturbates while taking a bath as Barry Keoghan‘s character Oliver watches him. After Felix finishes, Oliver steps into the tub to slurp up the remainder of the bathwater, and even licks the drain.

The scene has become one of the most talked about moments in recent film history and even inspired a line of candles that smell like “Jacob Elordi’s Bathwather.”

The Frankenstein actor went on to say that he finds the reaction to the sexual content in Saltburn so puzzling since audiences will watch some disturbing violence in entertainment without batting an eye.

“There’s more alarming things in the top 10 streamed remakes of crime documentaries on every streaming platform,” Jacob explained. “I think that’s much more alarming, the kind of horrible joy that we all get from watching children be mutilated. That’s what was interesting to me.”

“I was like, here’s a piece of fiction with something just a little taboo, and that makes people’s skin crawl,” he added. “It’s an interesting parallel.”

In an interview from last year, Jacob shared his initial reaction to the bathtub scene.
