The season finale of the new Apple TV+ series Slow Horses just premiered and the show has been confirmed to return for a second season.

Slow Horses is a darkly funny espionage drama following a team of British intelligence agents who serve in a dumping ground department of MI5 due to their career-ending mistakes. Led by their brilliant but irascible leader, the notorious Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman), they navigate the espionage world’s smoke and mirrors to defend England from sinister forces.

The second season is expected to be based on “Dead Lions,” the second book in Mick Herron‘s “Slow Horses” novels.

A sneak peek at the second season was included in the end of episode six and it reveals some of the cast members who seemingly are confirmed to return. Plus, there are two cast members who are being added for season two!

Gary Oldman leans back in his chair in this first look from his upcoming new series, Slow Horses.

The new show is a six-part series, based on Mike Herron’s novel of the same name, Gary plays Jackson Lamb, an MI5 boss relegated to administrative purgatory in Slough House, where sub-par agents are put out to pasture.

Jack Lowden also stars as a young agent who, after botching a mission, joins Lamb. Tasked with little more than paper-pushing, the jaded boss expects little from his team until they find themselves embroiled in a terrifying plot.

In addition to Gary and Jack, Kristin Scott Thomas, Jonathan Pryce and Olivia Cooke will also star.

Slow Horses will premiere on Apple TV+ on April 1, 2022.
