Peter Sarsgaard & Cailee Spaeny Win Big at Venice Film Festival 2023

Peter Sarsgaard and Cailee Spaeny were among the winners at the 2023 Venice Film Festival!

The 52-year-old actor and the 25-year-old actress attended the closing ceremony of the film festival on Saturday (September 9) in Venice, Italy.

During the ceremony, Peter won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor for his role in Memory, while Cailee won the Volpi Cup for Best Actress for her role in Priscilla.

Director Yorgos Lanthimos won the Golden Lion for Best Film for his movie Poor Things.

Maggie Gyllenhaal attended the ceremony to support husband Peter while La La Land director Damien Chazelle, Memory director Michel Franco, The Power of The Dog director Jane Campion, and The Banshees of Inisherin director Martin McDonagh were also in attendance.

Jane Campion Becomes Third Woman Ever To Win Best Director at the Oscars 2022

Jane Campion just made more history at the 2022 Academy Awards!

The Power of the Dog director picked up the Best Director statuette for the film, making her the third woman ever to win the prestigious award.

Jane‘s win also marks the first time that the trophy was one by a woman two years in a row. Chloe Zhao won last year’s honor for Nomadland.

She started her acceptance speech in Maori, before giving “big love to my fellow nominees. I love you all, you’re all so extraordinary talented.”

“I love directing because it’s a deep dive into story, yet the task of manifesting can be overwhelming. Thankfully, I’m not alone,” Jane added. “Thank you, Academy, it’s a lifetime honor.”

'Power of the Dog' Director Jane Campion Apologizes to Venus & Serena Williams Over 'Thoughtless' Comments in Acceptance Speech

Jane Campion is apologizing to Venus and Serena Williams after her comments sparked backlash at the 2022 Critics Choice Awards over the weekend.

If you’re unaware, Jane picked up the Best Director honor at the show for The Power of the Dog and in her speech, noted that the tennis superstar sisters hadn’t had to compete against men as she does.

“I give my love out to my fellow — the guys. The nominees” before adding to presenters “Serena and Venus, you are such marvels. However, you do not play against the guys like I have to.”

Now, Jane is backtracking on her comments and issued an apology.

Kirsten Dunst & Jesse Plemons Couple Up for DGA Awards 2022 in Beverly Hills

Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons are hitting the red carpet!

The 39-year-old actress and the 33-year-old actor posed together at the 2022 DGA Awards on Saturday evening (March 12) in Beverly Hills, Calif.

For the event, Kirsten looked pretty in a black, velvet blazer over a white dress while Jesse sported a brown suit.

Other stars in attendance included Kirsten and Jesse‘s The Power of the Dog director Jane Campion, Maggie Gyllenhaal and husband Peter Sarsgaard, Judd Apatow, Nomadland director Chloe Zhao, Dune director Denis Villeneuve and wife Tanya Lapointe, comedian Bo Burnham, Obi-Wan Kenobi actor Joel Edgerton, Moonlight director Barry Jenkins, and Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos.

If you missed it, Sam Elliott recently shared his harsh criticism of The Power of the Dog, calling it a “piece of s–t.”

While stepping out for the 2022 Directors Guild of America Awards on Saturday night (March 12), Jane was asked about Sam‘s comments about her movie, and she did not hold back while she ripped into Sam.

Maggie Gyllenhaal Gets Honored At San Francisco Film Awards 2021

Maggie Gyllenhaal makes a speech on stage while being honored at the 2021 SFFILM Awards Night at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts on Monday night (December 6) in San Francisco, Calif.

The 44-year-old Lost Daughter director was honored with the Kanbar Award for Storytelling at the film awards.

Oscar Isaac and The Power of the Dog director Jane Campion were also honored at the film awards with the SFFILM Award for Acting and Irving M. Levin Award for Film Direction, respectively.

King Richard and The Unforgivable star Jon Bernthal was also at the event, to honor Reinaldo Marcus Green with the SFFILM Special Award for Distinctive Voice.

Rising Stars Suzanna Son, Rachel Sennott, & More Step Out for Gotham Awards 2021

Lots of rising stars were in attendance at the 2021 Gotham Awards!

Suzanna Son and Rachel Sennott both hit the red carpet at the event on Monday night (November 29) at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City.

The young actresses were nominated for the Breakthrough Performer Award for their work in Red Rocket and Shiva Baby, respectively. Also pictured in the gallery are nominees Natalie Morales for Language Lessons and Amalia Ulman for El Planeta. The award was won by the fifth actress in the category!

Also in attendance were Outstanding Lead Performance nominees Simon Rex for Red Rocket, Frankie Faison for The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain, and Brittany S. Hall for Test Pattern. Frankie won the award in a tie with Olivia Colman, who was not in attendance.

Some legends at the event included Mark Ruffalo, director Jane Campion, Helen Hunt (with Blindspotting co-stars Jaylen Barron and Jasmine Cephas Jones), and Jennifer Coolidge, who was up for Outstanding Performance in a New Series for The White Lotus.

Rachel was joined on the red carpet by Shiva Baby director Emma Seligman.

FYI: Suzanna is wearing an Alexander McQueen dress.
