The 'Glee' Cast Almost Looked Very Different! Find Out the 4 Actors Who Auditioned for Finn & Which Celebs Asked for Cameos

The cast of Glee hit the map as some of the brightest rising stars on the scene when the musical series debuted in 2009.

However, the lineup of the New Directions might have been very different. In the years since Glee debuted, we’ve learned that a slew of actors auditioned for the show or expressed interest in making a cameo in an episode or two.

Some cast members even auditioned for different parts before they were finally cast.

During an interview with Kevin McHale and Jenna Uskhowitz on their And That’s What You REALLY Missed Glee podcast, casting director Robert J. Ulrich opened up about the casting process.

“I really loved every single role and was happy and proud of all of you in every role. That is the truth,” he said.

He noted, though, that “the most difficult roles were Finn and Mercedes for sure.”

Ryan [Murphy] really wanted Finn to be this believable high school jock and yet to sing great. We had flown people out from New York. We had so many auditions,” he recalled. That makes sense, as we have since learned that a multitude of actors were up for the role that ultimately went to Cory Monteith.

The interview made us curious, and we decided to do some digging to see what the cast could have looked like had things gone differently. We put the potential cast together in a list. Would you have guessed that all of these stars were almost involved in Glee?

Exes Jonathan Groff & Zachary Quinto Spotted Together Again, 10 Years After Their Breakup

Jonathan Groff and Zachary Quinto are clearly friendly exes!

The 38-year-old Knock at the Cabin actor and the 45-year-old Star Trek actor were all smiles while going for a walk around town together on Tuesday afternoon (May 2) in New York City.

It has been nearly ten years since Jon and Zach split up. At the time, it was reported that they planned on remaining friends and the distance was not easy on them.

Back in 2015, Zachary paid a visit to Jonathan backstage at a performance of his show Hamilton on Broadway.

In July 2015, Jonathan also opened up about their relationship.

“I feel like in dating actors the nice thing about it is they understand the schedules involved or having to leave for three months to shoot something and all of that. But when I was dating Gavin [Creel] and dating Zach, it was more about the people they were instead of the actors they were, which is the same about the people who aren’t actors that I’ve dated,” he told FourTwoNine. “It’s about them as people and not about any careers or jobs they have.”

On Monday night, Jonathan was at the Met Gala with his very famous best friend!
