Natasha Richardson's Son Micheál Opens Up About Keeping His Late Mom's Memory Alive

Micheál Richardson is opening up about his late mom Natasha Richardson.

The 25-year-old actor, whose parents are the late actress and Liam Neeson, recalled losing his mom when he was only 13-years-old.

Natasha died in 2009 from blunt force trauma following a skiing accident. She was only 45-years-old.

It was so sudden,” Miche├íl shared with U.K’s The Times. “When it’s unexpected and it’s just a complete freak accident, it really sort of messes with your mind, whether you believe in fate or not. It can send you for a bit of a head spin, and so you just latch on to the tiny little memories, whether it’s her laugh or her energy in the room or her cooking.”

Miche├íl also said that he keeps his mom’s memory alive by watching some of her old movies.

“I do have her films to go back and watch her in, which I’m incredibly grateful for,” Miche├íl said.

In a previous interview with People, Miche├íl said that his favorite movie of Natasha‘s is The Parent Trap “because I just see her so much as that person.”

“I’m so lucky too, because she’s passed away, I can still watch her and see how she worked and also it’s a great thing to have,” he continued. “And I do [watch her movies], but there’s still a lot there I need to watch.”

Micheál recently teamed up with Liam for the movie Made in Italy, which you can watch on Hulu now.

In a recent interview, Liam shared his thoughts on Miche├íl deciding to take Natasha‘s last name “Richardson” as his own.

Liam Neeson Honors Natasha Richardson with 'Cabaret' Return

Liam Neeson makes his way into Good Morning America for a talk show appearance on Thursday morning (January 8) in New York City.

Later that night, the 62-year-old Taken 3 actor attended a performance of the Broadway musical Cabaret with his sons Micheál, 19, and Daniel, 18. Spywitnesses tell JustJared.com that the family sat together around a table in the orchestra section.

Liam‘s late wife Natasha Richardson originated the role of Sally Bowles in the 1998 revival of Cabaret alongside Alan Cumming, who is starring in the current production as well. She passed away in March 2009 after sustaining a head injury during a ski lesson.

Natasha won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for the role and the current Sally Bowles, Emma Stone, credited the actress as her reason for wanting to star in the show.

Seeing the show must have been an amazing way for Liam and the kids to honor Natasha nearly six years after her devastating death.
