NBC News' Kristen Welker Expecting Her First Child with Husband John Hughes!

NBC News chief White House correspondent Kristen Welker and her husband John Hughes are going to be parents.

The 44-year-old TV journalist announced the exciting news on the Today Show on Friday (April 23).

“After years and years of trying, I’m having a baby girl with John and we are so excited,” Kristen said. “It’s with the help of a surrogate.”

She added that she wanted to share the news during Infertility Awareness Week in an effort to give others hope.

Kristen Welker Is Being Praised as the Best Debate Moderator So Far - Read Tweets!

Kristen Welker is getting a lot of praise tonight for how she is handling the final presidential debate!

The journalist, who works for NBC News, is the first black woman to moderate a presidential debate since 1992 and people think she is the best moderator of the election season.

The debate is taking place on Thursday night (October 22) in Nashville, Tenn.

Things were a bit different during this debate after the first one featured the candidates constantly interrupting each other, even during their 2 minutes of time that was supposed to be uninterrupted. This time, their mics are being muted while the other one has their uninterrupted time.

The current president made comments about New York City during the debate and those comments are being slammed by many.

Kristen Welker Joins NBC's 'Today' as Co-Anchor

Kristen Welker is gearing up to take on her new position at NBC’s Today.

The 43-year-old TV journalist and NBC News Washington correspondent – who moderated the November Democratic debate – will co-anchor the Saturday broadcast.

Kristen has been with NBC News since 2010. She previously worked as an intern at Today, as well as a researcher for the weekend edition.

“I feel like I’ve grown up, not only at NBC, but also at Today,” Kristen said during an interview on Friday (January 10). (via Variety). “We have a teeny little workspace [at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue]. We have so much fun together, and we are really excited to show that to other people.”

Her co-anchor is Peter Alexander, whom she works with while doing White House coverage as well.

Four Women Picked to Moderate November Democratic Debate - See the All-Female Team!

The fifth overall Democratic presidential candidate debate is airing in November, and an all-female team was just put together to moderate the debate.

Rachel Maddow, Andrea Mitchell, Kristen Welker and Ashley Parker will moderate the next Democratic debate on November 20 in Georgia, hosted by MSNBC and The Washington Post, it was announced on Wednesday (October 23).

The threshold for participation has once again been raised by the Democratic National Committee, meaning there will likely be less candidates at the event. Eight candidates reportedly quality so far at press time.

Rachel and Andrea host MSNBC shows, while Kristen is chief White House correspondent and Ashley is a reporter for the Washington Post.
