Anya Taylor-Joy Turned Down a Disney Pilot to Make 'The Witch'

Anya Taylor-Joy was the guest of honor at the 2022 Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards and she was joined at the event by her The Menu co-star Nicholas Hoult!

The 26-year-old actress was honored as the Actress of the Year at the event on Thursday (November 10) at Claridge’s Hotel in London, England.

After the event, Anya removed the skirt portion of her outfit and went back to her hotel in the lace bra and shorts with a blazer on top.

In her interview for her feature in the magazine, Anya talked about turning down a Disney pilot to make the indie movie The Witch.

Anya talked about receiving both offers on the same day.

“I remember it was the same day I got asked to be in a Disney Channel pilot, and it was so exciting to be offered anything at all that I ran around the house like a loon,” she said. “But I just had this really good feeling about The Witch that made me willing to forego the Disney experience for the thing that felt unknown to me, the thing that felt sacred.”

Anya actually thought she did a poor job in The Witch and she was surprised by the critical acclaim.

“I thought I’d done a really bad job, and I saw myself failing miserably with this dream I’d had for such a long time,” she said. “I guess I’m not always the best judge of my own work.”
