'Avatar,' 'Deadpool,' 'Star Wars,' 'Avengers' & 'Alien' Movie Sequel Release Dates Changed & Delayed, New Films Announced - See Every Disney & MCU Announcement!

There are a ton of changes happening to the theatrical release calendar.

Disney announced multiple changes happening to the release schedule on Tuesday (June 13), and a lot of fan-favorite franchises are moving around.

The films include two Star Wars movies, as well as the Avatar sequels, via THR. There is also news about Deadpool 3, Avengers, as well as the new Alien movie.

In some cases, delays and pushbacks are due to the ongoing WGA writers strike.

James Cameron‘s long-awaited follow-up to 2009′s Avatar premiered in theaters in late 2022. It garnered a slew of nominations during awards season and became the third highest-grossing movie of all time.

Michelle Rodriguez Explains Why She Turned Down an 'Avatar: The Way of Water' Cameo

Michelle Rodriguez was one of the biggest stars in 2009′s Avatar. However, she recently revealed that she was firmly against making a comeback for 2022′s Avatar: The Way of Water.

The 44-year-old Dungeons & Dragons actress played Trudy, a combat pilot who gave her life to protect the world of Pandora in the first movie.

She explained that director James Cameron offered her a spot in the franchise’s second movie during a recent interview. Michelle also shared why she felt it would be “overkill” for her to return to the role.

'Avatar' VFX Artist & Oscar Winner Hospitalized & Underwent Surgery After Appearing at Ceremony

Eric Saindon picked up his first Oscar at the 2023 Academy Awards on Sunday evening (March 12) and went straight to the hospital afterward.

The VFX artist took the stage at the Dolby Theatre after winning in the Best Visual Effects category alongside his Avatar: The Way of Water collaborators.

Shortly after accepting the win and posing with his trophy, Eric was rushed into surgery for a ruptured small intestine.

Oona Chaplin's 'Avatar' Character Revealed for Upcoming Third Movie!

Oona Chaplin is one of the actors joining the Avatar franchise in the upcoming third film and her role has finally been announced!

The 36-year-old actress, best known for playing Talisa Maegyr on Game of Thrones, was previously announced as a cast member back in 2017.

'Avatar: The Way of Water' Passes the $2 Billion Mark at the Box Office!

Avatar: The Way of Water continues to make quite the splash.

The long-awaited sequel to Avatar has brought in over $2 billion at the global box office, THR reported.

The James Cameron-directed film is now only the sixth in history to push past the $2 billion marker.

The film cost $400 million to make, and needed to break the $2 billion mark to be considered successful.

Avatar still holds the title of highest grossing film of all time with $2.9 billion in global ticket sales.

With the movie now at $2 billion, it’s expected to soon overtake the fifth biggest movie and fourth movie (Avengers: Infinity War, $2.05 billion) (Star Wars: The Force Awakens, $2.07 billion) within days as well.
