Jinkx Monsoon is opening up about her big new role.
The 36-year-old Drag Race alum and Broadway star got candid about taking on the role of Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors in a new interview with Cosmopolitan.
During the discussion, she spoke out about drag bans across America, criticism for taking on the role versus a cis woman, and her new chosen name, among other topics.

Constance Wu is now playing Audrey in the off-Broadway production of Little Shop of Horrors and she celebrated the musical’s 1000th performance with some famous friends!
The 41-year-old actress reunited with Crazy Rich Asians co-star Awkwafina at the party on Sunday night (October 15) at Bryant Park Grill in New York City.
Constance was also joined on the carpet by her co-star Corbin Bleu, who is playing the lead role of Seymour in the classic musical.
Jonathan Groff, who originated the role of Seymour in this production, and director Michael Mayer also attended the party.
When her casting was announced, Constance said, “I am so excited to be in this production, singing and performing alongside the brilliant Corbin Bleu, and enjoying the thrill of live & alive theater with the audience.” The show is currently being performed at the Westside Theatre.

The 34-year-old High School Musical alum and the 41-year-old Crazy Rich Asians star are set to star as Seymour and Audrey respectively in Little Shop of Horrors at the Westside Theatre in New York City, the two confirmed Monday (August 28).
Their turns in the musical will begin on September 26.

Maude Apatow wound up with a concussion during an off-Broadway performance of Little Shop of Horrors.
The 25-year-old Euphoria actress made her stage debut playing Audrey in the musical earlier this year.
During an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, Maude revealed that she deals with “a history of stage fright” that left her suffering an on-stage injury recently. She explained that she wound up with a concussion and finished up the performance before seeking treatment.

Chris Evans has essentially confirmed that he will be starring in the upcoming movie remake of the musical Little Shop of Horrors!
Earlier today, it was reported that Chris is in talks to play the dentist, Orin Scrivello, in the remake of the 1986 movie. Chris later took to Twitter to share an article about the casting and he simply tweeted out a tooth emoji with an exclamation mark.
Scarlett Johansson is in talks to play his on-screen girlfriend Audrey and Golden Globe winner Taron Egerton is in talks for the lead role of Seymour.
If Scarlett is confirmed to join Little Shop, it will mark her ninth movie with Chris. They’ve previously worked together in 2004′s The Perfect Score, 2007′s The Nanny Diaries, 2012′s The Avengers, 2014′s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, 2015′s Avengers: Age of Ultron, 2016′s Captain America: Civil War, 2018′s Avengers: Infinity War, and 2019′s Avengers: Endgame.

There’s a Little Shop of Horrors remake in the works, Deadline reports!
Warner Bros. has tapped famed producer Greg Berlanti to direct the project. Little Shop has a long history! It was originally a 1960s campy horror film starring Jack Nicholson.
That film was then adapted into a Broadway musical in 1982, with music by Alan Menken. If you didn’t know, Alan is also known for his work writing for Disney’s Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast!
Later, in 1986, the musical was adapted into a movie-musical starring Rick Moranis in the main role as Seymour.
The production has since come back to Broadway, and was even brought back as a limited run show last year in New York City with Jake Gyllenhaal in the leading role.
No casting has been announced.
