With less than a week to go before the Tony Award nominations are announced, we still have some more shows to fill you in on!

All throughout April, JustJared.com is featuring the new musicals, musical revivals, new plays, and play revivals popping up on Broadway this season.

First up were the new musicals, then it was the new plays, and the musical revivals… and now we are talking about the play revivals!

For this week’s Broadway Bulletin, we’ll be featuring the revivals of the classic shows: Macbeth, The Big Knife, and The Trip to Bountiful.

Tony Award® winner and two-time Emmy nominee Alan Cumming has returned to Broadway in Shakespeare’s darkest and most powerful tragedy, Macbeth.

Directed by Tony winner John Tiffany and Andrew Goldberg, the show is set in a clinical room deep within a dark psychiatric unit. Cumming is the lone patient, reliving the infamous story and inhabiting each role himself. Closed circuit television camera watch the patient’s every move as the walls of the psychiatric ward come to life in a visually stunning multi-media theatrical experience.

The Trip to Bountiful

Ending a 30 year absence, celebrated actress Cicely Tyson makes her triumphant return to Broadway in this eagerly anticipated new production, directed by the foremost interpreter of Horton Foote‘s work, Michael Wilson.

The Trip to Bountiful follows Carrie Watts (Tyson), an active, highly motivated widow living in a cramped apartment in Houston in the Spring of 1953 with her son (Cuba Gooding Jr.) and daughter-in-law (Vanessa Williams) . Carrie escapes her relatives’ watchful eyes to realize her dearest dream: to return to her beloved hometown, Bountiful. What starts as an ordinary trip soon becomes an inspiring and life-changing journey of discovery.
