Beyonce Remembers Aaliyah 15 Years After Her Death

Aaliyah died fifteen years ago on August 25, 2001 in a tragic airplane crash, and Beyonce took to her Instagram to pay tribute to the late entertainer.

In a clip posted to Beyonce‘s Instagram, she’s interviewing Aaliyah on the red carpet at the 2000 MTV Movie Awards. Bey asked Aaliyah who she wanted to see perform at the show.

“I wanna see D’Angelo perform,” Aaliyah responded, and Bey replied, “Girl, I’m with ya, cause you know he fine!”

Aaliyah was flying from Abaco Islands, The Bahamas, to Opa-locka Airport in Florida when her plane crashed about 200 feet after takeoff. She was 22 years old when she died.
