Broadway Star Laura Osnes Reportedly Fired from Show for Not Being Vaccinated

Broadway actress Laura Osnes has reportedly been fired from her upcoming show because of her vaccination status.

The 35-year-old two-time Tony-nominated actress was scheduled to perform in a one-night-only production of the musical Crazy for You on August 29 in the Hamptons.

The production will take place at East Hampton’s Guild Hall and the theater requires that all staff and performers be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Page Six is reporting that Laura responded “vaguely” after she was asked about her vaccination status. The outlet also says that her co-star Tony Yazbeck “pressed her on the matter” because he has two young kids at home.

The outlet claims that Laura then “revealed that she hadn’t been vaccinated, and announced that she doesn’t trust the jabs.”

The theater’s creative director Josh Gladstone said in a statement, “We have a requirement now along the lines of what Actors’ Equity is requiring, and what Broadway is requiring, for performances. So yes — we’re very excited with the cast that we have, and we’re delighted Susan has put together a beautiful evening. We’re sorry not to have Laura on this, [and] we will look forward to working with Laura again. We are concerned about maintaining the safety of our staff and our audiences.”

Laura got her big break in 2008 when she won the role of Sandy on Broadway in the NBC talent search series Grease: You’re the One That I Want! She later received Tony nominations for her work in the musicals Bonnie & Clyde and Cinderella.

Laura has been married to photographer Nathan Johnson since 2007.
