Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella's Son Passes Away

Satya Nadella is facing a sad loss.

The Microsoft CEO’s son, Zain Nadella, who he shares with wife Anu, has died, via a Microsoft spokesperson to People.

“Very sadly Satya‘s son Zain Nadella has passed away. The Nadellas are taking time to grieve privately as a family,” they said.

Zain was born with cerebral palsy, and died on Monday (February 28) in his mid-twenties, via Bloomberg.

The news was first shared by Microsoft in an email to its executive staff, via the outlet.

“Zain will be remembered for his eclectic taste in music, his bright sunny smile and the immense joy he brought to his family and all those who loved him,” said Jeff Sperring, CEO of Seattle Children’s Hospital, in the email. He was treated throughout his life at the hospital.

Last year, the Nadella family committed $15 million to Seattle Children’s and established the Zain Nadella Endowed Chair in Pediatric Neurosciences as part of the hospital’s Center for Integrative Brain Research, via People.
