Chris Evans's First Attempt at Buzz Lightyear's Voice Was a 'Shameless' Tim Allen Impression

Chris Evans is opening up about voicing Buzz Lightyear in Disney/Pixar’s new movie, Lightyear.

Chris admits that it wasn’t an easy task trying to emulate the iconic voice of the character, as everyone is programmed to hear actor Tim Allen.

“The first time you have to do that iconic line, ‘To Infinity and Beyond…,’ you kind of just do a shameless Tim Allen impression. It’s intimidating,” he shared with Variety.

He went on, explaining that director Angus MacClane supported his way of coming into the voice and helped in finding his groove as Buzz.

“Angus and everyone at Pixar was so collaborative, and you kind of let them guide you.” Chris said, adding that “eventually you feel comfortable enough to make your own tracks in the snow and find your own interpretation, while still using Tim Allen as the blueprint.”

Lightyear blasts into theaters on June 17.

Earlier this year, Disney faced backlash over the film due to a same-sex kiss being featured.
