Anita Pointer of The Pointer Sisters Dies at Age 74

Anita Pointer has sadly passed away.
The singer, who was one of the founding members of the R&B group The Pointer Sisters, died on Saturday (December 31) at her home in Los Angeles after a battle with cancer, her publicist Roger Neal confirmed in a statement.

“While we are deeply saddened by the loss of Anita, we are comforted in knowing she is now with her daughter, Jada and her sisters June & Bonnie and at peace,” Anita‘s family shared in a statement, via CNN. “Heaven is a more loving beautiful place with Anita there.”
She was the one that kept all of us close and together for so long. Her love of our family will live on in each of us,” the statement continued, adding that the family is asking for their privacy to be respected “during this period of grief and loss.”
Anita performed as The Pointer Sisters with her sisters Bonnie, June, and Ruth and went on to win three Grammys.
Our thoughts are with Anita‘s loved ones during this difficult time. RIP.
