Harry Melling Opens Up About Being Known For Roles Beyond 'Harry Potter'

Harry Melling is opening up about life after Harry Potter.

The 33-year-old actor, who played Dudley Dursley in the Harry Potter movie franchise, got candid about how he’s known as an actor, as well as how attitudes seem to be changing.

During the conversation, he said he’s “always amazed at the generational power” of the franchise, but that he’s noticed he’s getting attention for newer roles.

“My friends have kids now who are [into the books] and they’re like: ‘Uncle Harry‘s Dudley!’ If someone mentions Harry Potter to me then of course it’s something that I’ll engage with. It does feel like that narrative’s changing though, which is great,” he continued.

He said he understands “it’s always going to be there,” adding: “I would just like the conversation to be about what I’m doing now as opposed to something I did when I was 10.”

“I’ve always said to myself that if I focus on the work then hopefully everything else will fall into place,” Harry added.

Harry Melling is the latest star from the Harry Potter franchise to weigh in on JK Rowling and comments she’s made about the transgender community.
