Eric André Opens Up About Losing 40lbs, Admits It 'Wasn't Worth' It

Eric André is sharing some very candid thoughts about losing weight.

The 40-year-old comedian revealed that he lost 40 pounds in six months for the upcoming sixth season of The Eric André Show.

In a few new interviews, Eric opened up about losing the weight and advised people to “stay fat.”

“There is a reason skinny people are bitches and fat people are jolly,” Eric told GQ. “Skinny people have f—king attitudes because they’re f—king starving.”

“I say stay fat. If you’re fat or chubby, stay that way,” Eric added. “I felt great … but it wasn’t worth cutting out French fries.”

While Eric noted that it was “nice” being able to fit into his “old jeans and shorts again,” he admitted dieting and working out took a toll on his overall mood.

“My assistant came up to me and asked me [how I] I feel — f–king hungry!” Eric recalled. “I remember being irritated.”

In another interview with Men’s Health, Eric said, “As soon as I finished filming, I went back to pizza. It was a journey.”

He went on to say that as he started preparing for season six of his show, he wanted to be ripped.

“It took me six months. It’s a full time job,” Eric explained. “If you see any middle aged person with abs know that they’re either psychotic or unemployed, because it is a full time job.”

While he used three personal trainers to get into shape, Eric admitted the biggest challenge was his diet, for which he used a nutritionist and an app to monitor to track his calories.

“If your only carbs are Japanese sweet potato and sourdough bread, and you can’t eat after six o’clock in the evening, and you’re drinking a gallon of water, and you can’t drink any alcohol, and you can’t have Hot Cheetos — you start losing your mind,” Eric described.

As soon as filming ending, Eric said he “went crazy” and ate everything he had been depriving himself of.

I went crazy. I lost my mind. I ate a whole pizza. The day I wrapped, I woke up. I went to Russ and Daughters and ate a bagel,” Eric recalled. “I was like a pig…I drank my weight in wine.”

“When I got back, I stepped on the scale and I undid all six months of work,” Eric added.

Although he isn’t trying to maintain the ripped figure anymore, he now aims for a “my pants fit”-level of fitness.

“I will never do a body modification again,” Eric said. “Getting into shape after the age of 21 is so much work that I snapped at the end.”

Last month, Eric opened up about his romance with Emily Ratajkowski.
