Dave Grohl gives a touching tribute performance of “Blackbird” live on stage at the 2016 Academy Awards held at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday (February 28) in Hollywood.

The 47-year-old Foo Fighters frontman sat and played the guitar as he sang a stripped-back version of Paul McCartney‘s song while images and footage of late entertainment industry veterans – including Alan Rickman, David Bowie and Wes Craven – played on the screen.

That same evening, Dave hit the red carpet with his gorgeous wife Jordyn Blum.
