Jussie Smollett Indicted On 16 Felony Charges For Alleged Falsely Reported Attack

Jussie Smollett has been indicted on 16 felony counts of disorderly conduct.

The 36-year-old Empire actor was charged by a grand jury on Friday afternoon (March 8) in Chicago, Ill.

The charges stem from the “potential hate crime” against the actor that is said to have been falsely reported and the statements Jussie allegedly made to Chicago police department detectives.

“Jussie Smollett knew that at the time…there was no reasonable ground for believing that such offenses had been committed,” the indictment read.

The charges come on top of Jussie‘s state charges from last month, which could lead to three years in jail.
