Jussie Smollett Charged With Filing False Police Report

Jussie Smollett is facing charges.

The 36-year-old Empire star was charged with filing a false police report on Wednesday (February 20) following confirmation by Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi that detectives were presenting evidence in front of a Cook County grand jury, the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office confirmed.

“Felony criminal charges have been approved by @CookCountySAO against Jussie Smollett for Disorderly Conduct / Filing a False Police Report. Detectives will make contact with his legal team to negotiate a reasonable surrender for his arrest,” police spokesman Anthony tweeted.

The news comes shortly after the police spokesman confirmed that Jussie is now being classified as a suspect following the investigation into his alleged assault in Chicago.

If you don’t know, police allegedly believe Jussie paid two brothers to stage the attack.
