Camilla Queen Consort's Coronation Crown Revealed!

Camilla Queen Consort‘s coronation plans have been revealed ahead of the ceremony for King Charles in May.

The 75-year-old royal will wear the Queen Mary’s Crown, Buckingham Palace confirmed on Tuesday (February 14).

The crown features 2,2000 diamonds, and was worn by Queen Mary when she participated in the ceremony for King George V‘s coronation in 1911, via People.

This is the first time in recent history that an existing crown will be used for the coronation of a Queen Consort instead of a new one being made, the palace also revealed, in “the interests of sustainability and efficiency.”

The last time a Queen Consort’s crown was reused was in the 18th century, when Queen Caroline, consort of George II, wore Mary of Modena‘s crown.

There will also be a slight alteration to the crown, in order to pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II.

The crown will be reset with the Cullinan III, IV and V diamonds featured in the late monarch’s personal jewelry collection, worn often as brooches.

Four of the crown’s eight detachable arches will be removed to create “a different impression to when the Crown was worn by Queen Mary at the 1911 Coronation,” Buckingham Palace also said in the announcement.
