Eden Espinosa is currently leading the Broadway-bound production of Lempicka: A New Musical at the La Jolla Playhouse and you can listen to some of the songs here!

The new musical from Carson Kreitzer and Matt Gould tells the true story of renowned artist Tamara de Lempicka, played by Eden. You might recognize her from her work in musicals like Wicked, Brooklyn, and Falsettos.

Here is the full synopsis: “Amidst the violence of the Russian Revolution, a young painter named Tamara de Lempicka and her aristocrat husband are forced to abandon their luxurious lifestyle and flee to the dubious safety of Paris. Relying on her raw talent and relentless ambition, Tamara claws her way from penniless refugee to in-demand portraitist, earning a place among Parisian high society. Her world is upended once again when she meets Rafaela, a free spirit from the city slums, who introduces Tamara to a new world of decadence and passion. Torn between her new muse and her husband, fighting to leave her mark on an ever-changing world, Tamara must discover the depths of her own strength to survive.”

NBC New York is reporting that the Broadway League is going to announce on Friday that Broadway will not return until May 30, 2021, at the earliest.

Broadway shows have been shut down since March 13, 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. The shutdown was supposed to end in January 2021, but now will be extended as the pandemic is still not under control and it’s not safe for thousands of people to sit in an indoor theater together.

The productions that come back to Broadway will return across a series of rolling dates.
