Meet the New Stars of Broadway's 'Harry Potter & The Cursed Child,' Nicholas Podany & Bubba Weiler!

The Broadway show Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is already one of the most successful plays of all time and an exciting new cast just began performances!

Juilliard grad Nicholas Podany is making his Broadway debut as Albus Potter, the son of Harry Potter, while Bubba Weiler is also making his debut on the Great White Way as Draco’s son Scorpius Malfoy.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, which is an epic two part show, will celebrate its official one-year anniversary on Broadway on April 22.

We caught up with Nicholas and Bubba to learn more about them during this exciting time in their careers. Check out their fun facts here and make sure to get tickets to see the play on Broadway!

Nicholas Podany’s 10 Fun Facts

• 1. I’m a Gryffindor and my Patronus is a St. Bernard Dog.
• 2. My favorite characters from the series are Fred and George Weasley. I grew up wishing to one day have best friends that loved as fiercely as those two.
• 3. My favorite Harry Potter book to read (as of now) is the third, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The Marauders Map? Buckbeak? One of the greatest plot twists ever? Come on.
• 4. My favorite spell to perform on stage is Alohomora. I mean, standing up, pointing your wand, screaming the spell, and watching a door open in front of you is pretty much the coolest thing every night.
• 5. I started playing drums and piano when I was six after watching my favorite childhood movie That Thing You Do!
• 6. I love physics. I used to watch Brian Greene’s The Elegant Universe over and over after school.
• 7. My Gryffindor-ness was put to the test two summers ago when I was on an A train that malfunctioned, nearly derailed, and caused a track fire. The train car was filling with smoke and the emergency exits weren’t working, so I punched open a window, and with the help of fellow Gryffindors, helped people out onto the tracks.
• 8. One of the first times I was on stage I played Conrad Birdie when I was 7. My two front teeth were missing, so the song “Sincere” had to be retitled to “Thinthere.”
• 9. When I was eight, I was hit by a car and broke my left femur, so I couldn’t do the school musical, Crazy for You. I promised myself I’d learn how to tap dance as soon as I got out of the wheelchair, and I’ve been tapping ever since!
• 10. The best candy of all time is a cold, like, just out of the fridge, Kit Kat. That’s not a fact about me, that’s just a fact.

Bubba Weiler’s 10 Fun Facts

• 1. I have five older siblings. They’re my best friends.
• 2. I went to an all-boys military academy for high school.
• 3. My Hogwarts house is Hufflepuff and my Patronus is an Osprey, which is (and I had to look this up) a very majestic looking water hawk.
• 4. I once acted in a commercial for a Mexican restaurant in which I had to pretend to have a crush on a burrito. Please don’t look it up.
• 5. My favorite character from the series is Molly Weasley because she reminds me of my mom.
• 6. I’m partially blind in my right eye as the result of a freak tennis accident. You heard that right: a tennis accident.
• 7. My favorite Harry Potter book is Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. It’s the stay-up-all-night-reading-because-you-can’t-put-it-down kind of good.
• 8. I hiked to the top of Half Dome in Yosemite. It was one of the best days of my life.
• 9. On my first day living in New York a flying pigeon hit me directly in the face. I stayed anyway.
• 10. My favorite spell to see performed onstage is Engorgio. It’s very engorgimpressive.
