Idina Menzel Addresses the Possibility of Appearing in Upcoming 'Wicked' Movie

In a new interview, the 50-year-old actress and singer chatted about the upcoming film adaption of Wicked, while revealing if she would consider making an appearance in it.

“If they asked me to do it at the age of 51, I would say, sure — just put a little Vaseline on the lens, throw some green makeup on me, use a little CGI and I’ll look gorgeous,” Idina told People with a laugh.

In all seriousness, Idina added, “But no, it’s all good. That ship has sailed.”

If you didn’t know, Idina originated the role of Elphaba in Wicked on Broadway, playing the role from October 2003 until January 2005. Idina starred opposite Kristin Chenoweth as Glinda.

In 2004, Idina won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role.

Late last year, it was announced that Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande will be starring in the movie adaption of Wicked directed by Jon M. Chu. Cynthia will be playing Elphaba while Ariana will be playing Glinda.
