My Hero Academia is becoming a live-action movie!

Netflix will be producing the live-action film adaptation of the manga hit series from Legendary Entertainment, via THR.

Find out who is writing the screenplay and directing the movie…

Joby Harold, known for Obi-Wan Kenobi, Edge of Tomorrow and John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, is penning the screenplay for the movie.

The director and executive producer will be Shinsuke Sato, known for I Am a Hero, The Princess Blade and Inuyashiki. This will mark his English-language debut.

My Hero Academia debuted in 2014 as a manga, and was developed into an anime now in its fifth season.

Legendary bought the rights to a live-action adaptation all the way back in October of 2018.

Here’s a plot summary: “For superhero fanboy Izuku Midoriya (aka Deku), being born without a quirk makes him almost give up his dream of going to U.A. High School, the most prestigious hero training academy. But after a chance encounter with the legendary All Might, Deku starts on the road to become the greatest hero.”
