Timothy Olyphant Talks Auditioning for 'Star Trek' & Why He Lost Role to Chris Pine, Addresses 'Iron Man' Rumors

Timothy Olyphant is looking back on a role that got away from him – Captain Kirk in Star Trek.

The 55-year-old Justified actor revealed that he auditioned for the role, which first hit the big screen in 2009. The part ultimately went to Chris Pine, 42.

Chris starred in three movies with a fourth that was still in the works until 2022. During a recent interview, Timothy opened up about his audition process and why the part ultimately went to Chris.

He also addressed the rumor that he was in the running to play Iron Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds has released the trailer for season two, which features the return of special guest star Paul Wesley as James T. Kirk.

Strange New World’s cast, including Anson Mount as Captain Christopher Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Una Chin-Riley and Ethan Peck as Spock, and Babs Olusanmokun as Joseph M’Benga are all back this season.

Star Trek fans were robbed of an opportunity to see Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth together in a movie, and we now know more about what we missed out on.

Fourth 'Star Trek' Franchise Movie With Chris Pine & Zoe Saldana Removed From Release Schedule

There’s a big update about the anticipated fourth movie to Star Trek.

First announced in February, J.J. Abrams revealed that all the original stars would be returning for the film as the universe expanded even more. Star Chris Pine then revealed he was surprised by the news, seeing as there was no script sent to him.

Now, in a turn of events, it seems the sequel has been taken off the release schedule for Paramount.

Nichelle Nichols Dead - 'Star Trek' Icon Dies at 89

Nichelle Nichols has sadly died.

The acclaimed actress, who memorably played the role of Nyota Uhura in the Star Trek original series, passed away at the age of 89, her son confirmed on Facebook on Sunday (July 31).

“Last night, my mother, Nichelle Nichols, succumbed to natural causes and passed away,” her son Kyle Johnson wrote.
