Kate Middleton & Prince William Pay Respects at D-Day 70th Anniversary
Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge (aka Kate Middleton) and Prince William applaud a speaker at the 70th anniversary of the D-Day landings on Friday (June 6) in Arromanches Les Bains, France.
“It is essential too that we never forget the friends and companions of those veterans who gave everything on June 6 and during the days and months that followed,” the 31-year-old royal said in his speech. “However, today is also about the young. It is vital for them that they remember the sacrifice made by so many.”
FYI: In case you didn’t know, D-Day is the day when 156,000 troops from the allied countries including the United Kingdom and the United States joined forces to launch an audacious attack on the beaches of Normandy. These attacks were eventually credited with the downfall of Nazi Germany.
