Emile Hirsch Charged with Felony Assault on Female Film Executive

Emile Hirsch has officially been charged with third degree felony aggravated assault stemming from an incident that occurred during the 2015 Sundance Film Festival.

According to TMZ, the 29-year-old actor allegedly attacked Paramount executive Daniele Bernfeld at around 3:00AM on Sunday (January 25) at Tao nightclub in Park City.

Hirsch appeared intoxicated and asked [Bernfeld] why she looked ‘so tough’ and said she was a ‘rich kid’ who should not be at Sundance,” law enforcement officials told the site.

Bernfeld told cops she moved away to sit with friends when Emile came up to her and “put her in a chokehold.” Then he allegedly “pulled her across the table and onto the floor” and landed on top of her, and began to choke her.

She says she felt as though “the front and back of her throat were touching and she remembers things going dark” when two bystanders pulled him off of her.

Emile admitted to having a “verbal confrontation” with her after a few drinks.

If convicted, Emile can serve up to five years in prison. He was also charged with misdemeanor intoxication and is due in court on March 16.
