Grimes Reveals Who Her New Song Is Really About

Grimes is opening up about one of her new songs, “100% Tragedy”.

In a Discord chat, that was linked to her set at the Splendour XR music festival, the 33-year-old singer revealed that the song was inspired by a very public feud with another singer.

Grimes revealed that the song is about her clash with Azealia Banks.

“[It's] is about having to defeat azealia banks when she tried to destroy my life,” she stated, which Entertainment Weekly is linking back to the duo’s 2018 feud.

During that time, Grimes and Azealia were reportedly working on a song together when Azealia posted on social media that she was at Grimes‘ boyfriend “Elon Musk‘s house alone for days waiting for Grimes.”

The series of posts from that time allege that Elon was also introduced to weed through Grimes and that he tweeted about stocks for his company Tesla while on acid. A group of Tesla investors sued Tesla and Elon over the tweet and proposed to subpoena Banks.

After hearing Grimes comments, Azealia took to social media to address them.

“So you go make a bootleg @inna song about it. Yikes,” she wrote on Instagram Story. “Grimes def has some psychosexual obsession with me. i think it’s bitterness cuz she doesn’t have the musical capacity i have. everything she does is out of pretentiousness and it comes out like that … while everything i do is out of natural swag & geniusness lmaoo. Starting to notice all the weird undercover millennial racists hide out on discord.”

During her Splendour XR set, Grimes also shared a few snippets from her upcoming album, which would have between 13 and 15 tracks.

This isn’t the first feud Azealia has been involved in.
